The water pipe finally burst after all this cold. They demolished the building next door, to build a tall monstrosity, exposing the infrastructure inside our wall. In retrospect, it is surprising it didn’t happen sooner.

It is lucky I was working from home today. I found and shut off the main water valve for the whole building, but not before some water leaked inside my apartment, and a lot of water leaked on to the stairwell, bubbling up and bursting through the paint, and into the basement.

Let’s see how long it will take for the plumbers to get here, and what can they even do. There will be no water for showers or toilets till then.
