Made an offer at asking $559K price for a wreck of an apartment in a former low-income housing project building facing a highway. Couldn’t sleep because of half-dreams about that building’s hall-of-mirrors lobby, dimly-lit corridors and the creaking elevator smelling vaguely of urine, accompanied by a lifetime of debt and no travel.

And now I get a call from the broker saying how we should up our offer because there was a lot of interest from other buyers, and they expect a bidding war.

Screw this! If someone else wants it, let them have it.

(this also means that we won’t find anything better)
