The bigoted coop board rejected yet another buyer of R’s place! Last time it was because buyers were Colombian/Japanese, this time I think because he is Jewish. Everything about him was perfect. They didn’t even interview him! And this time we really need the money, and were counting on selling it.

Why must it be so bloody difficult to sell a large renovated 1-bedroom apartment on the top floor in an affordable-housing building in Manhattan for about 1/10th of what it would cost in a market-rate building?

The only restriction is that the buyer’s income must be under $80K.
And, apparently, cannot be Latino, White, Asian or Jewish. Or gay (they were known to discriminate before, openly stating that they wanted a “family-friendly building”).

I hate racists, whatever their race is, more than anything!

or maybe they are just expecting a bribe, dealing with which I hoped to have left in the old country!
