In Significant Advance for Artificial Photosynthesis, a Machine and Living Bacteria Work Together to Make Fuel
If I understand this correctly, this is one of the biggest pieces of news that never made it to the front pages. If we can make this work commercially, we can generate energy while taking CO2 out of the atmosphere, on both industrial and individual scale, resolving both energy and global warming crises. Better even than nuclear fusion.
What always remains unclear from these articles, however, is why is there no massive investment to make it viable from public sources from resource-poor energy-dependent countries like EU, Japan, Israel and Singapore, and from private equity. Whoever ends up holding patents to what makes this work will be very rich.
