I am participating in the “Protect the Creators” action and will post only “Protect the Creators” related content until June 2, 2015. Why?
As Photos Worth Seeing has stated in their post, this isn’t about money or vanity. It is about giving all creators on Tumblr – whichever kind of art they create – the choice whether their original artwork (writing, painting, photography, you name it) they provide for free for others to reblog, can be changed by removing the captions and/or credits. If Tumblr can do something about this to further support and protect the original work of the many creators who post here, isn’t it in their best interest to do it? After all, they’ve put a tremendous amount of work into creating this kind of platform where creative communities thrive. Why not help protect the work posted in these communities from being stripped of captions and posted by others with no accreditation to the original artist?
Whether you are a creator, a follower, a reblogger or curator, please join together and show your support by posting or reblogging only “Protect the Creators” messages on June 1.
