after all the excitement of last week, and the weekend, I had a nagging feeling that they would use exactly the same argument that saved Obamacare, to throw away Obama’s regulation of powerplant emissions.
And they just did!
So, the win for a mediocre health plan (that is still better than nothing, though particularly good for the health care and insurance business) resulted in a pretty enormous and far reaching setback for the future of the planet.
I always think of the worst, and I hate being right!
Pretty much all of these recent rulings were consistently in favor of whatever short-term corporate interests were in favor of. It is not surprising, but still sad.
Scalia himself said it best: ““It is not rational, never mind ‘appropriate,’ to impose billions of dollars in economic costs in return for a few dollars in health or environmental benefits”.
When are we going to change this mindset?
