Bernie Sanders Says He’d Let Religious Groups Against Gay Marriage Stay Tax-Exempt
That’s unacceptable. Religious groups opposed to marriage equality aren’t just declaring that they’re against it and then sitting on their hands, they are engaging in political campaigns to persuade officials to refuse to issue marriage licenses to gay couples while also working to undermine anti-discrimination laws that protect the LGBT community. Such campaigns are political activity that is prohibited for tax-exempt organizations, and those groups should lose that exemption.
Oh Bernie. You were doing so well. However, another reason why this country deserves an atheist or agnostic and scientifically literate presidential candidate.
