Hamster – Anidays 14

Human society didn’t “become” complacent. We were guided by complacency through the “free market” idea of capitalism. At the orchestration of businessmen who were neither scientists nor researchers, our society dubbed itself participants in the so-called “rat race”. And it certainly was one. It’s amazing how many people have stood up for animal rights, but fail to see how enslaved we all are to the idea of “freedom” or “democracy” when we are clocking in and clocking out of our lives every single day. The taxes you pay, the check you receive for your contribution to existence through whatever type of job you have…we’re just not recognizing that an age of abundance awaits us through the natural progression of technological advancement courtesy of an accelerating exponential growth curve.

Until then, we’re, all of us, on the wheel. Some of us are looking straight ahead, accepting this as a routine day-to-day grind where we enjoy our breaks in between, but stay the course until our time is through. However, there are those of us who have perhaps used our time away from the wheel to study, to learn more, change their perspective, see what’s ahead, or acquire the skills necessary to work on an alternative to this wheel o’ life. Not too far away – on a human timescale – we’ll look upon our present society and wonder just how we made it through. I mean, we have the means to provide for everyone, use the resources on and off planet to our benefit, explore the stars, and do anything and everything we could possibly want to do, but we’ve been convinced to remain cogs in the wheel of capitalism while people who “aren’t scientists” crank the mechanism that drives it.
