One habit: I often open a map to some part the world, and keep it in a window. I look back over the course of a day or week, trying to familiarize myself with the region. Here’s today’s: Asturias, in northern Spain. The closest I have been is Bragança, in northern Portugal.

I look up the address of an office of the person I speak to on the phone, whether it’s in Québéc, Luxembourg or Bermuda, and then explore around it.

And at the old company, when I had my own office overlooking the East River, I would look up the freighters that go by and see where they’ve been and where they are going to.

Looking at this map, I miss Galiza, in northern Portugal.
