The city abruptly shut down our day-care.

Apparently, there was an inspection and they found that some paperwork was missing. They had to call everyone at 7pm last night, making sure we make alternate arrangements.

This is what makes people hate governments.

This not the government that cares about citizens it purports to represent – all that it cares about is about fulfilling an arbitrary rule set by a faceless bureaucrat. The fact is that it actually endangers the tiny beings it claims to serve by endangering their parents’ livelihoods (what are their parents supposed to do at the last moment but take time off, deadlines and professional obligations be damned?) .

I have no vacation days left unclaimed for this year. So, I am “working from home” while minding little L. – not a very productive arrangement, but at least I’m lucky that I can do that.

I wish the government would be accountable to the citizens and not to some stupid rules.
