A brownstone (a really nice one) across from my friends’ was bought by an
Australian hedge fund. Apparently, they’ve been buying up houses all around
their neighborhood, renovating them, and renting, producing income for
their faraway investors.

This is one of the reasons why everything is so bloody expensive. How does
one compete with Australian hedge funds?
