So, a friend of mine works on the Hill here in DC. Here’s her doomsday theory about Trump’s VP pick and the GOP end game to destroy Democrats:
Since politicians know that millennials don’t vote and old people do, Trump gets elected and then immediately resigns, handing Presidency to Pence, the VP slot to Paul Ryan, and Speakership to Orrin Hatch.
Trump starts an ultra-conservative media group, pulling Fox News (the biggest news outlet in America) further to the right.
The GOP proceeds to dismantle America parks, schools, healthcare, retirement, and prisons and hands everything over to private businesses, evangelical church groups, NRA, oil companies, and police and military. All destroying Dems and independents, who’d simply lurch and skitter about forever.
OK, it’s a ominous and silly, but I agree with the part that millennials don’t vote. In fact, many don’t know if they’re registered or know how to find a poll (see: Can I Vote? to check if you are registered, and how to register).
The rest of her take is leftwing conspiracy rah rah.
I’ll play into negative-bias thing and post this. My conspiracy theory is that Trump is part of Putin’s plot to dismantle liberal democracies everywhere, but even I can’t take it seriously.
