Went to a newly opened movie theater to finally see Rogue One with ex coworkers.

The theater was full of old Turkish movie posters, and hardly any people. not even anyone to check our pre-booked tickets, so we went right in. The movie was supposed to take my mind off real life in this universe, but it only made it worse. They talked about resistance and hope, but there was precious little hope to go around.
There was also a bar there with lots of dark velvet, and wax death masks and various medical victoriana – a mix of Mutter Museum and Morbid Anatomy. We drank dark porter and talked – again – about exit strategies. My ex coworker has a NZ passport and has looked into getting one for his wife and baby.

Terra incognita or terra ignota (Latin “unknown land”; incognita is stressed on its second syllable in Latin, but with variation in pronunciation in English) is a term used in cartography for regions that have not been mapped or documented. The expression is believed to be first seen in Ptolemy’s Geography c. 150. The term was reintroduced in the 15th century from the rediscovery of Ptolemy’s work during the Age of Discovery. The equivalent on French maps would be terres inconnues (plural form), and some English maps may show Parts Unknown.
