got the bill from the people who fixed my AC. $720 for the 4 hours of labor, $50 for the “equipment use” (pump that can be bought new at home despot for $100-to-$300), $275 for the soon-to-be-illegal freon, and $300 for the mysterious parts with names like “s glass” and “ball valve” and “red coupling”. I shouldn’t have googled the parts. They are like $5-$10 each retail, and I’m sure they get trade discounts.
Why do we go to school for years and rack up six-figure debt when someone who learns a/c-repair trade makes $180/hour. And does not worry about jobs outsourcing to India or China.
