One of the reasons traveling across many state lines by train is so nice is how antiquated (absent) security measures make it so refreshing.

I mean, you walk into a beautiful 19th century building, print an airline-looking ticket the kiosk, (or not, phone app qr code is just fine), get on a train, sit down wherever you like, plenty of space, no one is stressed out, and that’s it. No showing ids, no x-rays, no shoes-belts-and-jackets-off, no liquids in 3oz containers in little baggies, no surly screaming unhappy sweaty people playing gendarmes at security theater (that you just paid $10 admission for).

And in a little more than an hour you are four state lines away.

Also, another confirmation of an earlier discovery: I really like working with people from subequatorial Africa. It’s a total gross overgeneralization, but they are all so damn nice! And smart, and worldly, and quietly understated.

A perennial mystery: how do people who live in suburban-like places with nonexistent public transport drink in all these bars and restaurants? I’m alone at the restaurant, and they are all drinking. Parking lot is fairly full. They can’t all be taking Uber home!

The client I’m going to tonight is in Philly suburbs – I actually wish I could have stayed for the weekend – there is a really nice Renoir thing at the Barnes Center, and I hear Longwood Gardens are really worth seeing.

All I’m hoping to see though is what Wilmington DE is like.

For someone who loves traveling so much I absolutely abhor packing.
