Hong Kong families with rooftop solar panels or wind turbines could sell energy for up to five times the current electricity price

(source: scmp | 17 apr 2018) Hong Kong households and businesses that produce renewable energy through rooftop solar installations or wind systems could soon sell their excess supply to the city’s power grid – and charge up to five times the current retail price.

An Environment Bureau proposal submitted to the Legislative Council environmental affairs panel on Monday said the payment to independent producers – known as the feed-in tariff – would be set at HK$3 (US$0.38) to HK$5 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity to spur investment in clean energy production.

This is how you do it, America.

Natural sculptures by Andy Goldsworth

“Andy Goldsworthy is an extraordinary, innovative British artist whose collaborations with nature produce uniquely personal and intense artworks. Using a seemingly endless range of natural materials—snow, ice, leaves, bark, rock, clay, stones, feathers petals, twigs—he creates outdoor sculpture that manifests, however fleeting, a sympathetic contact with the natural world. Before they disappear, or as they disappear, Goldsworthy, records his work in superb colour photographs.”

There is a documentary on him and his art on youtube! It’s called Rivers and Tides and it is fucking amazing and incredibly inspiring everyone should see it.

Just realized that a follow up to Rivers and Tides just came out – http://leaningintothewind.com

This is how I calm myself after listening to the news this morning.

– Every power hungry leader wants a scared population to give them more power. That’s what both Putin and Trump want, with the latter less powerful without the full control of the press or the legislature or courts.

– Biggest Trump’s motivating factor in everything he does is – take what Obama did or did not do, and do the opposite. Obama did not bomb Assad after he used chemical weapons. Obama asked Congress for authorization to keep it legal (and to spread responsibility), didn’t get it, and took the blame on himself, but that was the least bad option of all bad ones.

– Now, Trump satisfied himself having done the opposite, said that mission is accomplished, got his rich friends who bought Raythenon put options ahead of time even richer, and now he can go back to golfing or complaining about all these women accusing him, or unfair free press or whatever, and maybe even get out of Syria altogether like he always wanted (though it would suck for the poor Kurds and for this country’s future credibility, whatever’s left of it, but there are no good options).

Since he is so easily manipulated, I just hope that his Fox and Friends will keep him happy and make him direct his foul energy elsewhere. Maybe he will even go make friends with Putin, though that’s unlikely, since he is much more useful to him as an incompetent and chaotic enemy.

I miss Obama, and I don’t want to be afraid.
