“I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven after-life for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of dark.”
– Stephen Hawking
For Stephen Hawking to pass away on Pi Day and on Einstein’s birthday.
The great man knew irony. It’s like he said – the life would be tragic if it weren’t funny.
I will probably remember him now every year on this day.
Black Panther was as good as everyone said it was. So happy I managed to go see it while it’s still out even if by myself.
So yeah. Nectome is a preserve-your-brain-and-upload-it company. Its chemical solution can keep a body intact for hundreds of years, maybe thousands, as a statue of frozen glass. The idea is that someday in the future scientists will scan your bricked brain and turn it into a computer simulation. That way, someone a lot like you, though not exactly you, will smell the flowers again in a data server somewhere.
I darn the darksome parts of you
You darn the darksome parts of me;
We win-win-win
‘Till something like a quilt accrues
All patch of me and swatch of you;
We wrap up in
Sow a sparrow tree love
With crying birds for fruit
O sow a sparrow tree
W.C. Woods you dress in galoshgreen
And trim your topiary birds and topiary bees
Jules bring your jars of shells
And bring a volume of your pet ghost’s poetry
Don’t you try to hide it from me!
Sow a sparrow tree love
With crying birds for fruit
O sow a sparrow tree
Martha my dear and Frances my bliss
And my favorite Frost
We’ll wear our long, wise, whitebeards
And when betrothed one+two+three+four
We sisterwives will ride on one white bike
The speed of a quail
Then we’ll stand upright
One on each white side of a whale wishbone
And tug-of-war our weight on braided marrow
Rebecca they sent us twin red-headed boys
So let’s dress them all their days in turquoise
I hope you find your ambergris
when you read this report, be reminded, think how big and terrible the gap is between the rich and the poor in this city.

From the same report – there are 1.167 million people making over $250k/year living here – part of the reason it is getting so unbearable for the other 7 million or so.
