Self care tip: on election night, unless you are at a bar with a bunch of friends, just turn off the light, do NOT look at the phone, go to bed, and think of the fictitious world of the book you are reading now.

10 Learnings from 10 Years of Brain Pickings
Allow yourself the uncomfortable luxury of changing your mind. Cultivate that capacity for “negative capability.” We live in a culture where one of the greatest social disgraces is not having an opinion, so we often form our “opinions” based on superficial impressions or the borrowed ideas of others, without investing the time and thought that cultivating true conviction necessitates. We then go around asserting these donned opinions and clinging to them as anchors to our own reality. It’s enormously disorienting to simply say, “I don’t know.” But it’s infinitely more rewarding to understand than to be right — even if that means changing your mind about a topic, an ideology, or, above all, yourself.

Being told that the key to solving everything is turning to David Deida (I haven’t heard of him till now) – but now that I’m reading it and everything I know about myself seems to be rejecting it on so many levels.

My Russian accent is a liability for phone-banking, but I’m going door to door in NJ-7 this Sunday (NY Marathon be damned). Swingleft provides training, and they make everything super easy.

20 years from now, people will ask you what you did for this election, regardless of how it goes, and you will want to be able to say that you did at least something.
This is our last chance.
