I too was always curious about the meaning of the world do “well regulated militia”. A little history lesson clarified it for me pretty well.
I never had a chance to take American history, but why is this not a part of every history text book?

*i had to look up who they were. Apparently, Tekakwitha Orphanage was listed among the worst orphanages of recent history, along with the ones in Romania, Russia and Mainland China! They closed in 1970.
It was just painful to read about the abuses going on there (and other places).
