Is this in my future?
😕
In our age of the Anthropocene, as we distance ourselves from the cyclical rhythms of nature, we are disconnecting from our planet. Thoreau’s journal is a reminder of what’s at stake.
It is interesting to see how our scandal is responded to in countries like Russia (that gave us Putin and Trump) and Italy (that gave us Berlusconi)

And I’m amazed how anyone can feel bad for the man who supposedly “lost everything” – Weinstein will continue getting millions in royalties for every one of films Miramax produced with him that you will see in theaters or will stream on Netflix. The salary that he lost was only a drop in a bucket.

“My whole life has been disrupted. It’s a national nightmare,” the artist Carter Goodrich says, about his cover for this week’s issue: a painting of the President whom he calls a “dangerous clown.” “Most satire seems to lighten what feels to me like a dire situation. He’s already a cartoon villain, infantile and strange.”

The piece on Thoreau’s journals and worldview was only thing worth reading on my morning ride today.
If he were alive today, I wish I could follow his Tumblr (or Medium).

On the train getting ready for the next step in disconnecting – giving up my phone.
My father managed to break his, so it’s a perfect excuse to give him mine (instead of him spending ridiculous amount of money he doesn’t have on a new iPhone that he pines for so much but doesn’t really need or knows how to use ).
It is not really a huge trade off for me since I still have my work phone, but my old phone number will no longer work and my friends won’t be able to reach me – just my work..
It’s going to be interesting to be so disconnected.
