It’s amazing how many people were interested in my ethnicity. It looks like it’s just a kind of thing that’s just normal to ask people you barely know about. The people at the client are mainly nonwhite and it was an interesting way to see the perspectives. Also maybe it’s because I’m an outsider but i kind of wish people felt as comfortable talking about race with total strangers at home.
Also, they know our pain – the country is being run into the ground by corrupt narcissist incompetents elected by the uneducated, and CPT is the last liberal island of resistance, a local california of sorts, this province being the only one not voted for ANC.
The question really is – do I stay here in this beautiful place or run off to explore this city that I will probably never see..

Also, apparently lost my voice. It’s lucky that I probably won’t need it in the next two days.
This hotel is much nicer than what I deserve.
I think I saw someone who looks like Elon Musk staying here. But it’s not him – his accent is British. And Elon had too much to do to be here.

Things learned today: Cape Malay home made roti is different from West Indies (Trini) roti but as delicious.
Also, words such as backchat, and don’t remember what else anymore.
When I talk to people who are even more pessimistic than me, I am the biggest optimist (what?).
I want the cottage. I want the green grass and the tomato plants. I want the peace in you; the front porch rocking chair lullaby; our cricket legs rubbing together under the covers. We can’t have it all. I know that, but humor me. We can’t have it all, but we can have most of it.
