In general, there are two ways to look at things.

Expect and prepare for the worst. It either happens and you’re prepared, and there’s no room for anxiety, as the plan is efficiently put in place with minimal disruption. Or, it doesn’t, and you’re happy like a clam at your good fortune.

Expect and prepare for the best. If it happens, you are moving right along, as expected, not looking back, and take on what’s next. And, you did not expend any energy earlier thinking of negativity. If it doesn’t happen, you become anxious, cranky and miserable for a spell, but hopefully you’ve learned something.

Both approaches seem to work for individuals.

But when two people who subscribe to these opposite outlooks try to plan a project together, there are some unique challenges that I still don’t know how to overcome.
