going through year’s photos today
Turning to face north, face the north, we enter our own unconscious. Always, in retrospect, the journey north has the quality of dream.
Margaret Atwood (via pedialite)
“Going north”, as far as I can get with a car, is something I’ve done more than once, when I wanted to run away from myself. That was before I knew this quote.

The Akureyri Botanical Garden is a popular destination in summer. In winter it looks like something out of a story book. And it’s kind of cold. #helloreykjavik #iceland #akureyri

It is strange – it was 40s and early spring yesterday, and 80s and hot and
summery humid today.
Went for a walk and had to clear day old crumbs off a stroller from a piece
of Icelandic pastry that L ate only yesterday.

This Skalla-Grimur (Bald Grim, who probably looked like that skinhead
wildling from Game of Thrones) may have been responsible for settling this
entire area (after killing Norwegian king’s retinue with his pal and
running away), and a poet, but he does not seem like a pleasant character
at all. Neither is his son.
There apparently is a basketball team from this area named after him.
I’ve bean dreaming about him and his poor slave Brák (who seems really
awesome) all night.

On today’s walk, there were a lot of birds.
