what I really want right now, is to wake up, once again, in Buenos Aires

Starting days reading about burned libraries and thinking of how easily our civilization could end is depressing.
It’s better to just remember other days that started differently and dig up old pictures reminding of them.
Newfoundland to Cleveland
“All sounds belong to the moment, they are part of the present, the world of change, while the soundless belongs to the unchanging. In silence lies age.
A thousand years is no time at all, I thought.”
I only started reading this before sleep last night. But I already want to go to Newfoundland. In winter.
The Stunning Medieval Hilltop Church in Georgia
Near the village of Gergeti, outside the town of Stepantsminda, Georgia, lies the isolated Gergeti Trinity Church. Also called the Holy Trinity Church, it sits on top of a mountain near Mount Kazbegi, one of the highest and most beautiful peaks of Caucasus, at an elevation of 2,170 meters. The 14th century Georgian orthodox and apostolic church is a popular way point for trekkers in the area, and can be reached by a steep climb for 3 hours, or in half an hour by local taxi up a rough mountain trail.
The Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century and is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. During the invasion by Tbilisi Persians in the 18th century, precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino’s Cross were brought here for safekeeping. During the Soviet era, all religious services were prohibited, but the church remained a popular tourist destination. The church is now an active establishment of the Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church.
I want to go!!!
Words of the day
Got a note (via Linkedin of all places) from a friend from many lives ago who now lives in London.
I love that her nonnative (like mine) English is interspersed with long-forgotten (by me) words in other languages:
- mendokusai / めんどくさい (jp): annoying, pain-in-the-bum’some
- alverchi (az): trader, speculator, entrepreneur
It’s nice to be reminded that there are other people, like me, who don’t really belong anywhere, despite settled appearances.
She wants us to come visit. I really want to. Should I? Can I?
I really miss London, too…

since my other blog is all neglected, I’ll just post old photos from places I miss here.

Stumbling into otherworldly ruins in the forest.

Felt like going through the old pictures at breakfast.
KLEIN CURAÇAO
After two hours sailing, bearing southeast from the old Dutch Caribbean outpost of Curaçao, travelers will find a Caribbian ghost island inhabited by only shipwrecks, ruins and turtles…
So want to go!
