Trump to resign, handing Whitehouse to GOP?

So, a friend of mine works on the Hill here in DC. Here’s her doomsday theory about Trump’s VP pick and the GOP end game to destroy Democrats: 

Since politicians know that millennials don’t vote and old people do, Trump gets elected and then immediately resigns, handing Presidency to Pence, the VP slot to Paul Ryan, and Speakership to Orrin Hatch. 

Trump starts an ultra-conservative media group, pulling Fox News (the biggest news outlet in America) further to the right.

The GOP proceeds to dismantle America parks, schools, healthcare, retirement, and prisons and hands everything over to private businesses, evangelical church groups, NRA, oil companies, and police and military. All destroying Dems and independents, who’d simply lurch and skitter about forever. 

OK, it’s a ominous and silly, but I agree with the part that millennials don’t vote. In fact, many don’t know if they’re registered or know how to find a poll (see: Can I Vote? to check if you are registered, and how to register). 

The rest of her take is leftwing conspiracy rah rah. 

I’ll play into negative-bias thing and post this. My conspiracy theory is that Trump is part of Putin’s plot to dismantle liberal democracies everywhere, but even I can’t take it seriously.

L has enterovirus, says pediatrician.

But R has to work, and I have a very pissed off client who is already complaining that things take too long and that they don’t get enough attention – and I have a deadline today, and I already worked till 2am last night.

Since police shootings were in the news lately, I was curious to find the data to see for myself. The Guardian has an excellent, and only, afaik, database on police shootings, with breakdowns by race, gender, etc – and circumstances in each tragic event ( leave it to the Brits to analyze an American problem).

That, and the study they did at Harvard, which had some surprising results that showed clear police bias in violent interactions, but not, counterintuitively enough, shootings.

It’s a complicated issue with many factors, and I personally still think that the culture of violence (aka “honor”, aka “machismo” culture), along with the gun culture is primarily to blame for all this unpleasantness.

Interestingly enough, the Guardian’s dataset confirms what I always suspected – that NY is one of the safest places in this country from the police (along with, unsurprisingly, most of the Northeast where gun culture is least developed), and that it’s the worst in the West, with its self-reliance and freedom from government, and South with it’s “honor culture".

Really good design, too – with the wall of portraits not unlike the one at the Killing Fields museum in Phnom Penh (though similarity is superficial).

Everyone at the Coop last night was freaking out about the likelihood of Trump being elected. One of them, who is on Green Party message boards, saw how people no longer even talk about Bernie anymore, but how they seriously are considering voting for the Green Party candidate, which would guarantee Trump victory.

Just enough to fuel my own trump freakout.

What’s interesting is how little consideration is given to Russia’s input in all of this and how Trump election would be a perfect scenario for them in weakening the US and making the world more dangerous place. I actually wonder where Green Party contributions are coming from now. Especially considering how he might pick Flynn for VP.

AA has exactly zero regard for passengers and getting them to their destination. They told me they could get me there at 1am instead of 3pm as originally planned. I decided that I will just skip the trip and dial in with these people tomorrow instead.
None of the bosses are reachable, naturally, so it will just have to be my call.
